Overview:

This position reports directly to the Transportation Center Manager.  This position is supervised by Client’s Transportation Management.

The primary responsibility of this position is ensuring that all transportation services provided to Client Employees is safe, reliable and on-time, which includes oversight of the vendor/operator dispatch office ensuring an efficient, well-organized operation.  This position will also manage special projects as required by the Client Transportation Management; direct or assist the overall operations of Client Transportation by planning and evaluating  the scheduling of transportation routes; monitor and operate a computerized network tracking systems; establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, dispatch staff,  other vendors, and Client representatives of other departments.

Responsibilities:

Provide Customer Service support and assistance in managing the day to day operations of client Commuter Coach, and Transit Shuttles:

  • Evaluate and coordinate the vendor on-time performance of services during peak commute hours
    • Liaison with vendor/operator dispatch to ensure timely arrivals/departures
    • Liaison with vendor/operator management to ensure effective operations
  • Monitor the flow of buses using a TMS (Transportation Management System) to ensure adherence to published schedules
    • Ensure appropriate vehicle assignment adherence of vendor/operator
    • Ensure reliability of rider applications/notifications
  • Initiate corrective actions (early or late departures), if necessary, of bus schedules to ensure effective transportation opportunities for all passengers.
  • Evaluate and monitor effective routes based on traffic and road conditions
  • Evaluate and monitor route and vehicle changes due to vendor/operator issues
  • Provide timely route related communications to client employees
    • Update rider applications/notifications
    • Monitor internal posts and provide responses
  • Assist in the research and response to client complaints or requests regarding shuttle services (vehicle issues, lost and found, driver complaints)
  • Monitor internal group posts/emails and provide timely responses
  • Create/maintain logs or employee feedback, unusual activity, shuttle timeliness,
  • Fill in as needed to cover Transportation Center Associates providing curbside assistance

Provide support and assistance in managing the day to day operations of client Commute Alternatives Programs to include:

  • Emergency Ride Home Program
  • Transit Subsidy Program
  • Bike Program
  • Carpool/Vanpool Program
  • Car Share
  • Public Transit
  • Electric Vehicles
  • Commuter Coach, Transit Shuttle routes and schedules
  • Commute Program Communications (Phone, Email, Web)
  • Event Staffing and Charter Services (Vendor Coordination, Outreach)
  • Program research and information gathering

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of transportation and commute program related experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer and client systems related skills
  • Strong GPS tracking and dispatch related skills
  • Read, write and speak English to the extent necessary in order to perform his/her essential responsibilities.
  • Must poses good communication skills and be able to handle the public in a courteous non-hostile manner.
  • Must have experience with radio communication equipment.
  • Previous dispatching experience is a plus.
  • Must be computer literate and have some experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be able to work various shifts (day, evening, nights, weekends) as required by the needs of the business. Flexible availability required
